Our New Website

Wow, it's been a long road. But our new website is finally done. Wait...is a website ever really done? Probably not. But I believe it's done enough to show it to the world. I can imagine that I'll be playing with it for the next few months. It has so many more cool features than the old one. But I can finally breathe easy. The mad rush is over.

It's hard to see websites, or any design for that matter, through the eyes of others. I've seen the site so many times, I can't remember what I thought the first time...when it was new to me.

That's why it's important to me to get feedback....from anyone who visits. For those of you who have been to our site before, you have something to compare it with. For those coming to the Rolling Hills site for the first time, your only impression is the new site. Both visitors have something to offer - their opinion.

I know I'm asking a lot, taking time out of your busy day. But if you are reading this and feel you have something to offer, a suggestion or comment, please consider sending it my way. I'd love to hear from you.

Darkness Radio/TAPS Paranormal Retreat at the Stanley Hotel

What a weekend the Stanley Retreat had been! I don't think I have ever stayed somewhere more beautiful!

The guests were friendly and generous. They raised over $15,000 during the auction of which Rolling Hills received 50%. It was great meeting all the participants, and seeing again many of whom I met the weekend before at Rolling Hills.

Thank you Dave and Tim! Thank you Jason and Grant! And thank you to all who participated in the auction and ensured that Rolling Hills will be around for a long, long time.

I give you all my promise to see that the proceeds are spent only to support Rolling Hills, make the needed repairs, and cover all expenses. We are even looking into some improvements! I hope you will be able to join us here for an investigation to see first hand how the proceeds were put to good use.

And I will be heading back to the Stanley as soon as I can. Another retreat, possibly? I would also love to support the next recipient in need, as all of you supported us at RH.

Thank you,
Lori Carlson

Darkness Radio/TAPS Paranormal Retreat at Rolling Hills

Wow, what a weekend! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. You were the best group to ever walk through our doors. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves. I hope Rolling Hills was everything you expected and more.

The totals for the auction, including the extra ghost hunt on Thursday night is now complete. You generously donated $10, 095.67 to the Rolling Hills Repair and Maintenance Fund. This total does not include RH's portion of the ticket sales or the gift shoppe sales from the weekend. This is by far over and above all of our expectations. You are awesome!!  Rolling Hills will be well taken care of, especially this coming winter. I will MAKE SURE that every penny goes right back into the building upkeep and that our doors stay open for years to come.

A very special THANK YOU to Dave Schrader and Tim Dennis from Darkness Radio, Jason Hawes, Grant Wilson, Steve Gonsalves, Heather Drolet, and Dave Tango from T.A.P.S., Stacey Jones from CNYGH, Karen Reese and Michele Cleaves, our wonderful psychics, and Linda Zimmermann, author of the Ghost Investigator series. This wouldn't have been possible without you. I will be forever grateful.

I would also like to thank Rave Trimble, Kirk McWhorter, Trish McWhorter, and Cela Bliss for their help in the areas of event setup/cleanup, the DVD production, sound for the weekend, cashier relief, and so much more. Also thank you to members of the Rolling Hills Paranormal Research Society for their help with manning our table and ghost hunt assistance during the event. RHPRS members who helped: Jenn Monacelli, Jessica Connor, Steve Hall, Kelley Cushing, Mary Norton, Todd Norton, Rave Trimble, Kirk McWhorter, Trish McWhorter, Cela Bliss, Sue Herold, Don Merchant, Gary DiGati, Suzie Bezdany, Amy Yencer, & Marlena Treat. Thank you all.

Please feel free to post comments about the retreat here. I would love to hear from each and every one of you. I am so thankful for the great friends I have made this past weekend.

And I'm really interested in hearing about your experiences. I heard some at the evidence review, but I know there is so much more I didn't get the story on. Oh, and remember to submit any evps, photos, etc to Rave for our evidence database. The link is right on our homepage. You can post your experiences here, too.

Thank you all so much, and I hope to see you again in the future.

Rolling Hills Benefit - July 14, 2007

The benefit was a huge success. I want to thank each and every person who has cared so much about Rolling Hills. So many have donated their time, items, and hard-earned cash to help us in our time of need. It's a wonderful feeling finding out how many people out there care about you and your property. I have more good friends than I ever thought possible.

Many of you I didn't even know well or not at all. But you cared enough about saving this historic landmark and the investigating programs we have here. I thank you. And to my wonderful friends who tirelessly worked on this project, I thank you, too.

I have come to realize that the paranormal community in this country are an awesome bunch of people. They are caring, giving, and fiercely loyal. They will band together to save a property that some feel should be torn down. A property that has given and will continue to give paranormal investigators an opportunity to search out, study, and try to understand those on the other side.  I am very proud to count myself among you and to have had the opportunity to meet and become friends with so many of you.

I plan to keep Rolling Hills open to paranormal investigating for as long as I can. The spirits in this building need to be heard. I plan to do everything in my power to see that they are. I won't re-open the mall as it was the cause of some of our financial problems, and I won't be holding any investigations during January, February, or March. The severe weather caused too many problems this year, and we feel it's best if we took precautions next year to see that it doesn't happen again. That would mean draining the pipes and shutting down the building for a few months. But in the long run, it will ensure that we can re-open in milder weather for the rest of the year.

We will continue to evolve our programs to fit the needs of our participants. We began with the Public Ghost Hunts, added private group nights, added teen hunts, and the private hunt with RHGHS in past years. This year, we added the new We're Alone! hunts. So many had expressed an interest in something like this, and I found a way to work it into our programming.

I will also continue to pursue special events with your favorite investigators. There are a few posted now, with more to follow soon. Check our website for details.

Again, thank you all for everything you have done!! I will never forget and will be grateful until the end of my days.
